Youth Dance England (YDE) is the national organisation that champions dance for children and young people. YDE work to ensure that dance is available to all, both in and out of school settings. Through a shared vision with the national youth dance network and other partners, their aim is to increase access, raise standards and improve progression routes. YDE are working towards an aspiration for every child and young person being able to access high quality dance as participants and viewers in their school and near where they live, and progress their interest to whatever level they wish and are able. The

YDE national programmes include:

  • U.Dance - a national framework to stimulate and coordinate dance performances at local, county, regional and national levels in and outside of schools, underpinned by training courses for teachers. It aims to provide every child and young person with an opportunity to participate in a dance performance each year
  • Centres for Advanced Training – working alongside CATs to make better links with schools, community programmes and private dance schools so that more talented children and young people can receive excellent training in dance to prepare them for a dance career
  • YDE Stride! - a residential, mentoring and placement programme, which offers young people opportunities to develop management and leadership skills.
  • YDE Young Creatives - a programme designed to showcase the work of talented young choreographers, giving them the support and mentoring they need in order to progress in dance

Thank you for all the help, support, encouragement and inspiration you have given our daughter since she has been a member of CAT. We have seen her develop both as a dancer and as a person and we know that the excellent teaching she has received from the CAT will hold her in good stead for what ever happens to her in the future.
