WHERE WE ARE BASED:
We are based at DanceXchange within Birmingham Hippodrome – We have three strands: Dance Generation (contemporary) that covers the West Midlands and two national South Asian strands under the umbrella of Yuva Gati (Kathak & Bharatanatyam)
For young people aged between 11-18 years
Dance Generation is a high-quality training programme in Contemporary dance for 11-18year olds in the West Midlands to regularly access whilst still attending mainstream school. Dance Generation balances technical training with creative workshops; ensuring students experience a varied dance training programme.
The curriculum for the programme is delivered through weekly training sessions on Sundays during term time at our studios here at DanceXchange. Students will get the opportunity to be taught by leading professional artists and companies in both technique sessions and creative workshops.
Each participant has an Individual Training Plan devised in consultation with parents/ guardian and local dance teacher to support the student’s learning, and ensure the balance is maintained between the demands of school work and dance studies.
We have regular open days throughout the year and details of our auditions are posted on our website as they become available.
Dance Generation Open Days
CAT Open Days are for young dancers aged 11-16 to find out more about the Dance Generation CAT programmes.
Work with our fantastic team of professional tutors and artists, and meet like-minded people that love to dance! The events will include an opportunity to find out more about the scheme, by seeing our facilities, watching current students in class, meeting the staff, and having the opportunity to ask questions.
We highly recommend that you attend an open day if you are thinking of applying for our CAT audition.
